John Shaqi

قُلْتُ لِأَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) حَدِّثْنِي مَا أَنْتَفِعُ بِهِ فَقَالَ يَا أَبَا عُبَيْدَةَ أَكْثِرْ ذِكْرَ الْمَوْتِ فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يُكْثِرْ ذِكْرَهُ إِنْسَانٌ إِلَّا زَهِدَ فِي الدُّنْيَا .


Translation

Ibn Abu Umyer, from Ayoub, from Abu Ubeyday who said, ‘I said to Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Narrate to me what I can benefit with’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘O Abu Ubeyda! Frequently remember the death, for a person would not mention it frequently except that he would be an ascetic in the world’.
