Translation

Muhammad Bin Yahya and someone else, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Mahboub, from Aasim Bin Humeyd, from Ali Bin Al Mugheira who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullahasws, ‘May I be sacrificed for youasws! The dead, can anything be benefitted from it?’ Heasws said: ‘No’. I said, ‘It has reached us that Rasool-Allahsaww passed by a dead sheep, and hesaww said: ‘What was upon the owners of this sheep? If they were not benefitting by its flesh, they could have benefitted by its skin?’ Heasws said: ‘That sheep belonged to Sawda Bint Zam’a, a wife of the Prophetsaww, and the sheep was skinny, they could not have been benefitted from by its flesh, so she had neglected it until it died. So Rasool-Allahsaww said: ‘What was upon the owners of this sheep? If they were not benefitting by its flesh, they could have benefitted by its skin?’ – if she had purified (slaughtered) it’.
