میں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے پوچھا: سبزیوں میں کیا ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: وہ کیا ہیں؟ میں نے کہا: قضب اور تربوز اور ان جیسی سبزیاں۔ آپ نے فرمایا: اس پر کچھ نہیں، سوائے اس کے کہ اس جیسی چیز مال کے عوض بیچی جائے اور اس پر ایک سال گزر جائے، تو اس میں صدقہ ہے۔ اور آلوبخارہ جیسے پھلوں میں کیا زکوٰة ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: نہیں۔ میں نے کہا: تو اس کی قیمت کا کیا؟ آپ نے فرمایا: جو اس کی قیمت میں سے ایک سال گزر جائے، اسے پاک کرو (زکوٰة دو)۔

Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hammad, from Al Halby who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah^asws, ‘What is (payable) regarding the greenery?’ He^asws said: ‘And what is it?’ I said, ‘The herbs and the melons, and similar to it from the greenery’. He^asws said: ‘There is nothing upon it except that if you were to sell the likes of it for wealth, and a year passes by over it, so there would be charity (payable) with regards to it’. And about the edibles from the plums and what resembles it, ‘Is there <span class="iTxt">Zakāt</span> regarding it?’ He^asws said: ‘No’. I said, ‘So (what about) its price?’ He^asws said: ‘Whatever a year passes by over it, from its price, so purify it (pay <span class="iTxt">Zakāt</span>)’.
