John Shaqi

سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ وَ فِي يَدِهِ مَالٌ لِغَيْرِهِ هَلْ عَلَيْهِ زَكَاةٌ فَقَالَ إِذَا كَانَ قَرْضاً فَحَالَ عَلَيْهِ الْحَوْلُ فَزَكَّاهُ .


Translation

Humeyd Bin Ziyad, from Al Hassan Bin Muhammad Bin Sama’at, from someone else, from Aban Bin Usman, from Abdul Rahman Bin Abu Abdullah, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about a man upon whom are debts and in his hand is wealth of theirs’. Is the <span class="iTxt">Zakāt</span> upon him?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘When it was a loan, and a year passes by over it, so he should purify it (pay <span class="iTxt">Zakāt</span>)’.
