مَرَّ يَهُودِيٌّ بِالنَّبِيِّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) فَقَالَ السَّامُ عَلَيْكَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) عَلَيْكَ فَقَالَ أَصْحَابُهُ إِنَّمَا سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ بِالْمَوْتِ قَالَ الْمَوْتُ عَلَيْكَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) وَ كَذَلِكَ رَدَدْتُ ثُمَّ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) إِنَّ هَذَا الْيَهُودِيَّ يَعَضُّهُ أَسْوَدُ فِي قَفَاهُ فَيَقْتُلُهُ قَالَ فَذَهَبَ الْيَهُودِيُّ فَاحْتَطَبَ حَطَباً كَثِيراً فَاحْتَمَلَهُ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَلْبَثْ أَنِ انْصَرَفَ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) ضَعْهُ فَوَضَعَ الْحَطَبَ فَإِذَا أَسْوَدُ فِي جَوْفِ الْحَطَبِ عَاضٌّ عَلَى عُودٍ فَقَالَ يَا يَهُودِيُّ مَا عَمِلْتَ الْيَوْمَ قَالَ مَا عَمِلْتُ عَمَلًا إِلَّا حَطَبِي هَذَا احْتَمَلْتُهُ فَجِئْتُ بِهِ وَ كَانَ مَعِي كَعْكَتَانِ فَأَكَلْتُ وَاحِدَةً وَ تَصَدَّقْتُ بِوَاحِدَةٍ عَلَى مِسْكِينٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) بِهَا دَفَعَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَ قَالَ إِنَّ الصَّدَقَةَ تَدْفَعُ مِيتَةَ السَّوْءِ عَنِ الْإِنْسَانِ .

ایک یہودی نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس سے گزرا اور کہا: السام علیک۔ تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: علیک۔ اصحاب نے کہا: اس نے آپ کو موت کا پیغام دیا۔ آپ نے فرمایا: موت تجھ پر — اور اسی طرح میں نے جواب دیا۔ پھر نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: یہ یہودی کالا سانپ اس کی گردن کے پیچھے کاٹے گا اور مارے گا۔ تو وہ یہودی گیا، بہت سی لکڑیاں جمع کیں اور اٹھا لایا۔ پھر واپس آیا۔ رسول اللہ نے فرمایا: رکھ دو۔ لکڑیاں رکھیں تو اندر کالا سانپ ایک لکڑی کاٹ رہا تھا۔ فرمایا: اے یہودی! آج تو نے کیا کیا؟ اس نے کہا: میں نے کچھ نہیں کیا سوائے لکڑیاں اٹھانے کے، اور میرے پاس دو روٹیاں تھیں، ایک کھائی اور ایک مسکین کو دی۔ رسول اللہ نے فرمایا: اسی سے اللہ نے دور کیا۔ اور فرمایا: صدقہ انسان سے بری موت کو دور کرتا ہے۔
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Ali, from Abdul Rahman Bin Muhammad Al Asady, from Salim Bin Mukram, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘A Jew passed by the Prophet<sup>saww</sup>, so he said, ‘The poison (<span class="iTxt">Al-Saam</span>) be upon you<sup>saww</sup>’. So Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘Upon you’. So his<sup>saww</sup> companions said, ‘But rather, he greeted upon you with the death. He said, ‘The poison be upon you<sup>saww</sup>’’. The Prophet<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘And such is how I<sup>saww</sup> responded’. Then the Prophet<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘This Jew will be stung by the black snake in the scruff of his neck, so he would be killed’. So the Jew went away and gathered a lot of firewood and carried it. Then it was not long before he passed by. So Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said to him: ‘Place it down’. So he placed the firewood down, and there was a black snake in the middle of the firewood biting upon a stick. So he<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘O Jew! What did you do today?’ He said, ‘I have not done any deed except for this firewood of mine which I was carrying. So I went over with it and there were two cakes with me, so I ate one of them and gave one in charity to a poor one’. So Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘By it Allah<sup>azwj</sup> has Repelled from it’. And he<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘The charity repels the evil death from the human being’.
