ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام ایک ایسی رات میں نکلے جس میں بوندا باندی ہو رہی تھی، اور آپ علیہ السلام بنی ساعدہ کی ظُلَّہ کا ارادہ رکھتے تھے۔ میں آپ علیہ السلام کے پیچھے ہو لیا۔ اچانک آپ علیہ السلام سے کوئی چیز گر گئی۔ آپ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: 'بسم اللہ، اے اللہ! اسے ہمیں واپس لوٹا دے۔' پھر میں آپ علیہ السلام کے پاس آیا اور سلام کیا۔ آپ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: 'معلی؟' میں نے کہا: 'جی ہاں، میں آپ پر قربان۔' آپ علیہ السلام نے مجھ سے فرمایا: 'اپنے ہاتھ سے تلاش کرو اور جو کچھ ملے مجھے دے دو۔' تو مجھے بہت سی بکھری ہوئی روٹیاں ملیں اور میں جو کچھ ملتا آپ علیہ السلام کو دیتا رہا۔ پھر میں روٹیوں سے بھری ایک تھیلی کے پاس پہنچا جسے اٹھانے سے عاجز تھا۔ میں نے کہا: 'میں آپ پر قربان! میں اسے اپنے سر پر اٹھا لیتا ہوں۔' آپ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: 'نہیں، میں اس کا تم سے زیادہ حقدار ہوں۔ لیکن میرے ساتھ چلو۔' راوی نے کہا: پھر ہم بنی ساعدہ کی ظُلَّہ پر آئے تو وہاں کچھ لوگ سوئے ہوئے تھے۔ آپ علیہ السلام ایک ایک اور دو دو روٹیاں سرکانے لگے یہاں تک کہ سب کے پاس پہنچ گئے۔ پھر ہم واپس آئے۔ میں نے کہا: 'میں آپ پر قربان! کیا یہ لوگ حق کو جانتے ہیں؟' آپ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: 'اگر وہ اسے جانتے ہوتے تو ہم انہیں دُقَّہ میں بھی شریک کرتے، اور دُقَّہ یعنی نمک ہے۔' بے شک اللہ تبارک و تعالیٰ نے کوئی بھی چیز نہیں بنائی مگر اس کا ایک خازن ہے جو اسے محفوظ رکھتا ہے، سوائے صدقہ کے، کیونکہ رب اسے خود سنبھالتا ہے۔ میرے والد علیہ السلام جب کوئی چیز صدقہ دیتے تو اسے سائل کے ہاتھ میں رکھتے، پھر واپس لیتے، چومتے اور سونگھتے، پھر سائل کے ہاتھ میں واپس رکھ دیتے۔ رات کا صدقہ رب کے غضب کو بجھا دیتا ہے، بڑے گناہ کو مٹا دیتا ہے اور حساب کو آسان کر دیتا ہے۔ اور دن کا صدقہ مال کو پھلتا پھولتا ہے اور عمر میں اضافہ کرتا ہے۔ عیسیٰ بن مریم علیہما السلام جب سمندر کے کنارے سے گزرے تو اپنے کھانے میں سے ایک ٹکڑا پانی میں ڈال دیا۔ حواریوں میں سے ایک نے کہا: 'اے روح اللہ اور اس کے کلمے! آپ نے یہ کیوں کیا جبکہ یہ آپ کا کھانا تھا؟' آپ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: 'میں نے یہ پانی کے جانداروں میں سے کسی جاندار کے لیے کیا تاکہ وہ اسے کھائے، اور اس کا ثواب اللہ کے پاس بہت بڑا ہے۔'

Translation

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Sa’dan Bin Muslim, from Moalla Bin Khunays who said, ‘Abu Abdullah^asws went out during a night and it had drizzled, and he^asws was intending (to go to) a canopy of the Clan of Saeeda, so I followed him^asws, and there was something which had dropped off from him^asws. So he^asws said: ‘O Allah^azwj, Return it to us^asws’. He (the narrator) said, ‘So I followed him^asws and greeted him^asws. So he^asws said: ‘Moalla?’ I said, ‘Yes, may I be sacrificed for you^asws’. So he^asws said to me: ‘Seek with your hands, so whatever you find from anything, hand it over to me^asws’. I found a lot of pieces of bread, and I went on handing these over to him^asws, whatever I found. So then I was with a basket of bread which I was frustrated from carrying it, so I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you^asws! Carry it upon my head’. So he^asws said: ‘No, I^asws am first with it than you are, but come with me^asws’. He (the narrator) said, ‘So we came over to a canopy of the Clan of Saeeda, and we were with a group of people sleeping. So he^asws went on to tuck the bread, and two breads until he^asws came to the last of them. Then we left, so I said, ‘May I be sacrificed for you^asws! Do they recognise the Truth?’ So he^asws said, ‘If they had recognised it, I^asws would have consoled them with the delicacy, and the delicacy, it is the salt. Allah^azwj Blessed and High did not Create anything except there is a treasurer for it treasuring it, except for the charity, for the Lord^azwj Pursues it by Himself^saww, and my^asws father^asws, when he^asws gave something in charity, would place it in the hand of the beggar, then retract from it, so he^asws would kiss it, and smell it, then return it in the hand of the beggar. A charity at night extinguishes the Anger of the Lord^azwj, and obliterates the major sins, and makes the Reckoning easier; and the charity by the day yields the wealth and increases in the life span. Isa Bin Maryam^as, when he^as passed upon the coast of the sea, threw a bite from his^as provision into the water. So one of the disciples said to him^as, ‘O Spirit of Allah^azwj and His^azwj Speech! Why did you^as do this, and rather it is your^as provision?’ So he^as said: ‘I^as did this for an animal from animals of the water to eat from it, and its Reward in the Presence of Allah^azwj, is great’.
