رَأَيْتُ الْمَعْرُوفَ لَا يَصْلُحُ إِلَّا بِثَلَاثِ خِصَالٍ تَصْغِيرِهِ وَ تَسْتِيرِهِ وَ تَعْجِيلِهِ فَإِنَّكَ إِذَا صَغَّرْتَهُ عَظَّمْتَهُ عِنْدَ مَنْ تَصْنَعُهُ إِلَيْهِ وَ إِذَا سَتَّرْتَهُ تَمَّمْتَهُ وَ إِذَا عَجَّلْتَهُ هَنَّأْتَهُ وَ إِنْ كَانَ غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ سَخَّفْتَهُ وَ نَكَّدْتَهُ .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Isa, from Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Sa’dan, from Hatim, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘I<sup>asws</sup> view that the act of kindness is not correct except with three characteristics – (considering it as) insignificant, and concealing it, and hastening towards it. So you, when you consider it as insignificant, it is magnified in the presence of the one who is the recipient of it, and when you conceal it, you complete it, and when you hasten to it, you make it welcoming; and if it was other than that, you would trivialise it and cause annoyance’.
