John Shaqi

رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنْفِقُوا مِنْ طَيِّباتِ ما كَسَبْتُمْ فَقَالَ كَانَ الْقَوْمُ قَدْ كَسَبُوا مَكَاسِبَ سَوْءٍ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمُوا أَرَادُوا أَنْ يُخْرِجُوهَا مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ لِيَتَصَدَّقُوا بِهَا فَأَبَى اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى إِلَّا أَنْ يُخْرِجُوا مِنْ أَطْيَبِ مَا كَسَبُوا .


Translation

And in another report, from Abu Baseer, from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> regarding the Word of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h267"><a href="/books/quran:2#h267">[2:267]</a></a> Spend (benevolently) from the good things that you earn</span>, so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The people had earned evil earning during the Pre-Islamic period. So when they became Muslims, they wanted that they take these (evil earnings) from their wealth in order to give charity with it. So, Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Blessed and High Refused except that they should take out from the good of what they had been earning’.
