John Shaqi

إِذَا رَأَوُا الْهِلَالَ قَبْلَ الزَّوَالِ فَهُوَ لِلَيْلَتِهِ الْمَاضِيَةِ وَ إِذَا رَأَوْهُ بَعْدَ الزَّوَالِ فَهُوَ لِلَيْلَتِهِ الْمُسْتَقْبَلَةِ .


Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Hammad, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘When you see the crescent before the decline (of the sun), so it is its past night, and when you see it after the decline (of the sun), so it is its coming night’.
