قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) إِنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ عَلَّقَ عَلَى بَابِهِ مِصْرَاعَيْنِ بِمَكَّةَ فَمَنَعَ حَاجَّ بَيْتِ اللَّهِ مَا قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ سَواءً الْعاكِفُ فِيهِ وَ الْبادِ وَ كَانَ النَّاسُ إِذَا قَدِمُوا مَكَّةَ نَزَلَ الْبَادِي عَلَى الْحَاضِرِ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ حَجَّهُ وَ كَانَ مُعَاوِيَةُ صَاحِبَ السِّلْسِلَةِ الَّتِي قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى فِي سِلْسِلَةٍ ذَرْعُها سَبْعُونَ ذِراعاً فَاسْلُكُوهُ إِنَّهُ كانَ لا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ وَ كَانَ فِرْعَوْنَ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Al Husayn Bin Abu Al A’ala who said, ‘Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Muawiya was the first one to hang two shutters upon his door in Makkah. So he prevented the Pilgrims of the House of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> from what Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic Said <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:22#h25"><a href="/books/quran:22#h25">[22:25]</a></a> They are equal in it, the dweller and the visitor</span>. And the people, when they used to come to Makkah, the visitor would lodge with the dweller until he had fulfilled his Hajj, but Muawiya is an owner of the chains which Allah<sup>azwj</sup> the Exalted Speaks of in <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:69#h32"><a href="/books/quran:69#h32">[69:32]</a></a> Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits</span>, therefore chain him <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:69#h33"><a href="/books/quran:69#h33">[69:33]</a></a> Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Magnificent</span>, and he was the Pharaoh<sup>la</sup> of this community’.
