سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) أَيُّ أَنْوَاعِ الْحَجِّ أَفْضَلُ فَقَالَ التَّمَتُّعُ وَ كَيْفَ يَكُونُ شَيْءٌ أَفْضَلَ مِنْهُ وَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) يَقُولُ لَوِ اسْتَقْبَلْتُ مِنْ أَمْرِي مَا اسْتَدْبَرْتُ لَفَعَلْتُ مِثْلَ مَا فَعَلَ النَّاسُ . عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) مَا نَعْلَمُ حَجّاً لِلَّهِ غَيْرَ الْمُتْعَةِ إِنَّا إِذَا لَقِينَا رَبَّنَا قُلْنَا رَبَّنَا عَمِلْنَا بِكِتَابِكَ وَ سُنَّةِ نَبِيِّكَ وَ يَقُولُ الْقَوْمُ عَمِلْنَا بِرَأْيِنَا فَيَجْعَلُنَا اللَّهُ وَ إِيَّاهُمْ حَيْثُ يَشَاءُ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Abu Ayoub Al Khazzaz who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, ‘Which type of the Hajj is superior?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The <span class="iTxt">Tamatto</span> (التَّمَتُّعُ); and how can anything be more superior than it, and Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘Had I faced from my<sup>asws</sup> matters what I managed, I<sup>saww</sup> would have done the like what the people did’.<a id="_ftnref1014"></a><sup>[1014]</sup> (See Ch 27 H 6) Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Yunus Bin Abdul Rahman, fom Muawiya Bin Ammar who said, ‘Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘We<sup>asws</sup> do not know of a Hajj for the Sake of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> apart from the <span class="iTxt">Tamatto</span> (الْمُتْعَةِ). We<sup>asws</sup>, when we<sup>asws</sup> meet our<sup>asws</sup> Lord<sup>azwj</sup>, we<sup>asws</sup> would say: ‘Our<sup>asws</sup> Lord<sup>azwj</sup>! We<sup>asws</sup> acted by Your<sup>azwj</sup> Book and Sunnah of Your<sup>azwj</sup> Prophet<sup>saww</sup>’, and the people would be saying, ‘We acted by our opinions’. So Allah<sup>azwj</sup> would Make us<sup>asws</sup> and them to be wherever He<sup>azwj</sup> so Desires to’.
