قُلْتُ لَهُ مَا مَنْزِلَتُكُمْ وَ مَنْ تُشْبِهُونَ مِمَّنْ مَضَى قَالَ صَاحِبُ مُوسَى وَ ذُو الْقَرْنَيْنِ كَانَا عَالِمَيْنِ وَ لَمْ يَكُونَا نَبِيَّيْنِ.

علی بن ابراہیم، ان کے والد سے، ابن ابی عمیر سے، ابن اُذَینہ سے، برید بن معاویہ سے، ابو جعفر اور ابو عبداللہ سے، ان دونوں پر سلام ہو، روایت کرتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے فرمایا: میں نے ان سے کہا: “آپ کا مرتبہ کیا ہے، اور آپ پہلے گزر جانے والوں میں کس سے مشابہ ہیں؟” انہوں نے فرمایا: “موسیٰ کے ساتھی اور ذو القرنین؛ دونوں علم والے تھے، اور وہ نبی نہ تھے۔”
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Ibn Azina, from Bureyd Bin Muawiya, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> and Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘What are your (Imams<sup>asws</sup>) positions, and who resembles you from the ones of the past?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Companion of Musa<sup>as</sup>, and Zul Qarnayn were both knowledgeable ones, and they did not happen to be Prophets<sup>as</sup>’.
