سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الدَّلَالَةِ عَلَى صَاحِبِ هَذَا الْأَمْرِ فَقَالَ الدَّلَالَةُ عَلَيْهِ الْكِبَرُ وَ الْفَضْلُ وَ الْوَصِيَّةُ إِذَا قَدِمَ الرَّكْبُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَقَالُوا إِلَى مَنْ أَوْصَى فُلَانٌ قِيلَ إِلَى فُلَانِ بْنِ فُلَانٍ وَ دُورُوا مَعَ السِّلَاحِ حَيْثُمَا دَارَ فَأَمَّا الْمَسَائِلُ فَلَيْسَ فِيهَا حُجَّةٌ .

علی بن ابراہیم، محمد بن عیسیٰ سے، وہ یونس سے، وہ احمد بن عمر سے، وہ ابو الحسن الرضا علیہ السلام سے، جنہوں نے فرمایا: میں نے ان سے اس امر کے صاحب کی دلالت کے بارے میں پوچھا، تو انہوں نے فرمایا: اس کی دلالت بڑا ہونا، فضیلت، اور وصیت ہے۔ جب سوار مدینہ پہنچیں اور کہیں: ‘فلاں نے کس کو وصیت کی؟’ تو کہا جاتا ہے: ‘فلاں بن فلاں کو’؛ اور جہاں بھی ہتھیار جائے، اس کے ساتھ چلو۔ جہاں تک سوالات کا تعلق ہے، ان میں کوئی حجت نہیں۔
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from Muhammad Bin Isa, from Yunus, from Ahmad Bin Umar, (It has been narrated) from Abu Al-Hassan Al-Reza<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the evidence upon the owner of this matter (Imamate)’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The evidence upon him<sup>asws</sup> is being the elder, and the merit, and the bequest. When the riders of Al-Medina proceed and they say, ‘To whom has so and so (Imam<sup>asws</sup>) bequeathed to?’ It can be said, ‘To so and so, son of so and so’, and it (the Imamate) would circle around along with the weapons wherever they may be. So as for the asking questions, so there is no proof in it’.
