كُنَّا عِنْدَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بِمِنًى لَيْلَةً مِنَ اللَّيَالِي فَقَالَ مَا يَقُولُ هَؤُلَاءِ فِي فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ فَلا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ وَ مَنْ تَأَخَّرَ فَلا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ قُلْنَا مَا نَدْرِي قَالَ بَلَى يَقُولُونَ مَنْ تَعَجَّلَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْبَادِيَةِ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ وَ مَنْ تَأَخَّرَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْحَضَرِ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ وَ لَيْسَ كَمَا يَقُولُونَ قَالَ اللَّهُ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُهُ فَمَنْ تَعَجَّلَ فِي يَوْمَيْنِ فَلا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ أَلَا لَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ وَ مَنْ تَأَخَّرَ فَلَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ أَلَا لَا إِثْمَ عَلَيْهِ لِمَنِ اتَّقَى إِنَّمَا هِيَ لَكُمْ وَ النَّاسُ سَوَادٌ وَ أَنْتُمُ الْحَاجُّ .
Translation
Humeyd Bin Ziyad, from Al Hassan Bin Muhammad Bin Sama’at, from Ahmad Bin Al Hassan Al Maysami, from Muawiya Bin Wahab, from Ismail, Bin Najeeh Al Rammah who said, ‘We were in the presence of Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> in Mina on a night from the night, so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘What are they (people) saying regarding <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h203"><a href="/books/quran:2#h203">[2:203]</a></a> then whoever hastens off in two days, there is no sin on him, and whoever remains behind, there is no sin on him</span>?’ We said, ‘We do not know’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes, they are saying, ‘The one who hastens, from the people of the valleys, so there is no sin upon him, and the one who delays, from the people of the urban areas, so there is no sin upon him’; and it is not as they are saying it to be. Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, Majestic is His<sup>azwj</sup> Praise Says <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:2#h203"><a href="/books/quran:2#h203">[2:203]</a></a> then whoever hastens off in two days, there is no sin on him</span>, indeed there is no sin upon him, <span class="ibTxt">and whoever remains behind, there is no sin on him</span>, indeed there is no sin upon him for the one who fears. But rather, it is for you all, and the people are the multitude, and you are the pilgrims’.
