Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad and Ahmad Bin Muhammad, altogether from Ali Bin Mahziyar, from Ali Bin Hadeed who said, ‘I was staying in Al-Medina during a Month of Ramazan in the year two hundred and thirteen. So when (Eid) Al-Fitr came near, I wrote to Abu Ja’farasws asking himasws about the going out regarding an Umra during a Month of Ramazaan, ‘Is it superior, or staying until the Month is past, and I complete my Fasts?’ So heasws wrote to me a letter which I read it to be in hisasws own handwriting: ‘You asked, may Allahazwj have Mercy on you, about which Umra is superior. An Umra during a Month of Ramazan is superior. May Allahazwj have Mercy on you’.
