John Shaqi

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) إِنَّ مَكَّةَ حَرَمُ اللَّهِ حَرَّمَهَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ ( عليه السلام ) وَ إِنَّ الْمَدِينَةَ حَرَمِي مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا حَرَمٌ لَا يُعْضَدُ شَجَرُهَا وَ هُوَ مَا بَيْنَ ظِلِّ عَائِرٍ إِلَى ظِلِّ وُعَيْرٍ وَ لَيْسَ صَيْدُهَا كَصَيْدِ مَكَّةَ يُؤْكَلُ هَذَا وَ لَا يُؤْكَلُ ذَلِكَ وَ هُوَ بَرِيدٌ .


Translation

Abu Ali Al Ashary, from Al Hassan Bin Ali Al Kufy, from Ali Bin Mahziyar, from Fazalat Bin Ayoub, from Muawiya Bin Ammar, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘Makkah is <span class="iTxt">Harram</span> of Allah<sup>azwj</sup>. Ibrahim<sup>as</sup> sanctified it; and Al-Medina is my<sup>saww</sup> <span class="iTxt">Harram</span>, in what is in between its two hills, being Prohibited to cut down its trees, and it is what in in between the shade of A’ir (a hillock) up to the shade of Wueyr (a hillock), and its hunt is not like the hunt of Makkah. This would be eaten and that would not be eaten, and it is a Bareyd (approximately three square miles)’.
