علی بن ابراہیم نے اپنے والد سے، انہوں نے ابن ابی عمیر سے، انہوں نے معاویہ بن عمار سے روایت کی کہ انہوں نے کہا — میرا گمان ہے کہ ابو حمزہ الثمالی سے — انہوں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فرمایا: جب بھی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کسی سریہ (فوجی دستے) کو روانہ کرنے کا ارادہ فرماتے، تو انہیں بلاتے اور اپنے سامنے بٹھاتے، پھر فرماتے: اللہ کے نام سے، اللہ کے ساتھ، اللہ کی راہ میں اور رسول اللہ کی ملت پر چلو۔ غنیمت میں خیانت نہ کرو، مُثلہ نہ کرو، دھوکہ نہ دو، بوڑھے فانی کو قتل نہ کرو، نہ بچے کو، نہ عورت کو، اور درخت نہ کاٹو مگر جب مجبور ہو جاؤ۔ اور جو مسلمان بھی — ادنی ہو یا افضل — کسی مشرک کی طرف نظر (پناہ) کرے تو وہ جوار میں ہے یہاں تک کہ کلام اللہ سنے۔ اگر تمہاری پیروی کرے تو وہ دین میں تمہارا بھائی ہے، اور اگر انکار کرے تو اسے اس کی محفوظ جگہ تک پہنچاؤ، اور اس کے خلاف اللہ سے مدد مانگو۔

Translation

Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Umeyr, from Muawiya Bin Ammar, who thinks it was from Abu Hamza Al Sumaly, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah^asws having said: ‘Whenever Rasool-Allah^azwj wanted to send a battallion, so he^saww would call them and have them seated in front of him^saww. Then he^saww would be saying to them: ‘March in the Name of Allah^azwj, and with Allah^azwj, and in the Way of Allah^azwj, and upon the Religion of Rasool-Allah^saww. Neither commit excesses, nor mutilate, nor be treacherous, nor kill the dying elderly nor children, nor the woman, nor cut down a tree except if you are desperate to it. And whichever man from the lowest of the Muslims or the most superior of them sympathises with a man from the Polytheists, so he is a neighbour (friend) until he hears the Speech of Allah^azwj. So if he were to follow you, so he is your brother in the Religion, and if he refuses, so deliver him to his safety, and seek Assistance with Allah^azwj against him’.
