مَنِ اسْتَأْسَرَ مِنْ غَيْرِ جِرَاحَةٍ مُثْقِلَةٍ فَلَا يُفْدَى مِنْ بَيْتِ الْمَالِ وَ لَكِنْ يُفْدَى مِنْ مَالِهِ إِنْ أَحَبَّ أَهْلُهُ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Al Nowfaly, from Al Sakuny, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> that Amir Al-Momineen<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘The one who lets himself be made a captive without having sustained a heavy injury, so he would not be ransomed from the Public Treasurey, but he would be ransomed from his own wealth if his family so likes to’.
