كَتَبَ ابْنُ قِيَامَا إِلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ( عليه السلام ) كِتَاباً يَقُولُ فِيهِ كَيْفَ تَكُونُ إِمَاماً وَ لَيْسَ لَكَ وَلَدٌ فَأَجَابَهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) شِبْهَ الْمُغْضَبِ وَ مَا عَلَّمَكَ أَنَّهُ لَا يَكُونُ لِي وَلَدٌ وَ اللَّهِ لَا تَمْضِي الْأَيَّامُ وَ اللَّيَالِي حَتَّى يَرْزُقَنِيَ اللَّهُ وَلَداً ذَكَراً يَفْرُقُ بِهِ بَيْنَ الْحَقِّ وَ الْبَاطِلِ .

ہمارے چند اصحاب نے، احمد بن محمد سے، انہوں نے جعفر بن یحییٰ سے، انہوں نے مالک بن اشیم سے، انہوں نے حسین بن بشار سے روایت کی، جنہوں نے کہا: ابن قیامہ نے ابو الحسن عليه السلام کو ایک خط لکھا، جس میں کہا: “آپ امام کیسے ہو سکتے ہیں جبکہ آپ کا کوئی بچہ نہیں؟” تو ابو الحسن الرضا عليه السلام نے اسے گویا غصے کی حالت میں جواب دیا: “اور کس نے تمہیں بتایا کہ میرے ہاں بچہ نہیں ہوگا؟” اللہ کی قسم، دن اور راتیں گزریں گی نہیں یہاں تک کہ اللہ مجھے ایک لڑکا عطا کرے، جس کے ذریعے وہ حق اور باطل میں فرق کرے گا۔
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ja’far Bin Yahya, from Malik Bin Asheym, from Al Husayn Bin Bashhar who said, ‘Abu Qiyama wrote a letter to Abu Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup> saying in it, ‘How can you<sup>asws</sup> happen to be the Imam<sup>asws</sup> and there isn’t a son for you<sup>asws</sup>’. So Abu Al-Hassan Al-Reza<sup>asws</sup> answered, resembling the angry one: ‘And what would make you know that there would not happen to be a son for me<sup>asws</sup>? By Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! The days and the nights will not pass by until Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Graces me<sup>asws</sup> a male child, differentiating between the Truth and the falsehood’.
