John Shaqi

سَأَلْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ ( عليه السلام ) عَنْ كَسْبِ الْمُغَنِّيَاتِ فَقَالَ الَّتِي يَدْخُلُ عَلَيْهَا الرِّجَالُ حَرَامٌ وَ الَّتِي تُدْعَى إِلَى الْأَعْرَاسِ لَيْسَ بِهِ بَأْسٌ وَ هُوَ قَوْلُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ .


Translation

A number of our companions, form Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Al Husayn Bin Saeed, from Ali Bin Abu Hamza, from Abu Baseer who said, ‘I asked Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> about earning of the singers, so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘(That singing) at which the men come over to her for is Prohibited, and (that singing) which she is invited to the weddings, there is no problem with it, and these are the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:31#h6"><a href="/books/quran:31#h6">[31:6]</a></a> And from the people is one who buys amusing discourse to lead astray from Allah’s Way without knowledge</span>’.
