John Shaqi

سَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْجَوَارِي الْمُغَنِّيَاتِ فَقَالَ شِرَاؤُهُنَّ وَ بَيْعُهُنَّ حَرَامٌ وَ تَعْلِيمُهُنَّ كُفْرٌ وَ اسْتِمَاعُهُنَّ نِفَاقٌ .


Translation

A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad and Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, altogether from Ibn Fazzal, from Saeed Bin Muhammad Al Tahiry, from his father, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, said, ‘A man asked him<sup>asws</sup> about selling the slave girl (singer), so he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Buying them and selling them is Prohibited, and teaching them is disbelief, and listening to them is hypocrisy’.
