اشْتَرَيْتُ مَحْمِلًا فَأَعْطَيْتُ بَعْضَ ثَمَنِهِ وَ تَرَكْتُهُ عِنْدَ صَاحِبِهِ ثُمَّ احْتَبَسْتُ أَيَّاماً ثُمَّ جِئْتُ إِلَى بَائِعِ الْمَحْمِلِ لآِخُذَهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ بِعْتُهُ فَضَحِكْتُ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ لَا وَ اللَّهِ لَا أَدَعُكَ أَوْ أُقَاضِيَكَ فَقَالَ لِي تَرْضَى بِأَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَأَتَيْنَاهُ فَقَصَصْنَا عَلَيْهِ قِصَّتَنَا فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِقَوْلِ مَنْ تُحِبُّ أَنْ أَقْضِيَ بَيْنَكُمَا أَ بِقَوْلِ صَاحِبِكَ أَوْ غَيْرِهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ بِقَوْلِ صَاحِبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ مَنِ اشْتَرَى شَيْئاً فَجَاءَ بِالثَّمَنِ فِي مَا بَيْنَهُ وَ بَيْنَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ وَ إِلَّا فَلَا بَيْعَ لَهُ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Al Hassan Bin Al Husayn, from Safwan Bin Yahya, from Abdul Rahman Bin Al Hajjaj who said, ‘I bought a loader, so I gave part of its price, and left it with its owner. Then I awaited for a few days, then I came over to the seller of the loader in order to take it, so he said, ‘I have sold it’. So I laughed, then I said, ‘No, by Allah<sup>saww</sup>, I will not let you (do this), or I shall seek judgement over you’. So he said to me, ‘Would you be pleased with Abu Bakr Bin Ayyash (as a judge)?’ I said, ‘Yes’. So we went over to him, and we related our stories to him. So Abu Bakr said, ‘By whose words would you like that I judge between the two of you, by the words of your Master<sup>asws</sup> or someone else?’ I said, ‘By the words of my Master<sup>asws</sup>’. He said, ‘I heard him<sup>asws</sup> saying: ‘The one who buys something, so either he comes up with the price in what is between it and three days, or else there is no sale for him’.
