Translation
2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Hisham ibn Salim from a man who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, arranged a marriage between Miqdad ibn al-Aswad and Duba‘ah daughter of al-Zubayr ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib.’ He (the Imam) then said, ‘He (the Messenger of Allah) arranged this marriage for Miqdad only to explain the rules of marriage so that people follow the foot-steps of the Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, and take notice that the most excellent in the sight of Allah are the most pious people. Al-Zubayr was brother of ‘Abd Allah and abu Talib from both father and mother’s side.’”
