قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) رَجُلٌ قَالَ لِيَ اعْرِفِ الْآخِرَ مِنَ الْأَئِمَّةِ وَ لَا يَضُرُّكَ أَنْ لَا تَعْرِفَ الْأَوَّلَ قَالَ فَقَالَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ هَذَا فَإِنِّي أُبْغِضُهُ وَ لَا أَعْرِفُهُ وَ هَلْ عُرِفَ الْآخِرُ إِلَّا بِالْأَوَّلِ .

محمد بن یحییٰ، احمد بن محمد سے، وہ محمد بن اسماعیل سے، وہ منصور بن یونس سے، وہ محمد بن مسلم سے روایت کرتے ہیں، جنہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو عبد اللہ (علیہ السلام) سے کہا: ایک آدمی نے مجھ سے کہا: ائمہ میں سے آخری کو پہچانو، اور اس سے تمہیں کوئی نقصان نہیں ہوگا کہ تم پہلے کو نہ پہچانو۔ انہوں نے فرمایا: پھر اس نے کہا: اللہ اس پر لعنت کرے، کیونکہ میں اس سے بغض رکھتا ہوں اور اسے نہیں پہچانتا۔ اور کیا آخری کو پہلے کے بغیر پہچانا جا سکتا ہے؟
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Mansour Bin Yunus, from Muhammad Bin Muslim who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, ‘A man said to me, ‘If you were to recognise the last of the Imams<sup>asws</sup>, it would not harm you if you do not recognise the first of the Imams<sup>asws</sup>’. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘May Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Curse this one, for I<sup>asws</sup> hate him and do not recognise him! And, can the last one be recognised except with the first one?’.
