لَوْ لَمْ يَحْرُمْ عَلَى النَّاسِ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) لِقَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ ما كانَ لَكُمْ أَنْ تُؤْذُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَ لا أَنْ تَنْكِحُوا أَزْواجَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ أَبَداً حَرُمْنَ عَلَى الْحَسَنِ وَ الْحُسَيْنِ ( عليهما السلام ) لِقَوْلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَ لا تَنْكِحُوا ما نَكَحَ آباؤُكُمْ مِنَ النِّساءِ وَ لَا يَصْلُحُ لِلرَّجُلِ أَنْ يَنْكِحَ امْرَأَةَ جَدِّهِ.
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Al Hakam, from Al A’ala Bin Razeyn, from Muhammad Bin Muslim, (It has been narrated) from one of the two (5<sup>th</sup> or 6<sup>th</sup> Imam<sup>asws</sup>) having said: ‘Had the wives of the Prophet<sup>saww</sup> not been Prohibited unto the people by the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:33#h53"><a href="/books/quran:33#h53">[33:53]</a></a> and it does not behove you that you should hurt Rasool Allah, nor that you should marry his wives after him ever</span>, they were prohibited unto Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup> and Al-Husayn<sup>asws</sup> due to the Words of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:4#h22"><a href="/books/quran:4#h22">[4:22]</a></a> And marry not the woman whom your fathers married</span>, nor is it correct for the man that he should marry a wife of his grandfather’.
