«هُوَ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ إِلاَّ مَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ» فَقَالَ لَهُ اَلسَّائِلُ فَمَا تَرَى فِي اَلْعِيَالِ قَالَ «إِنْ شِئْتَ فَعَلْتَ وَ إِنْ شِئْتَ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ وَ أَمَّا أَنْتَ فَلاَ تَدَعْهُ ».

اور یہ روایت ہے علاء بن الفضیل سے، ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے۔ کہ ایک شخص نے ان سے قربانی کے بارے میں پوچھا، تو انہوں نے فرمایا: یہ ہر مسلمان پر واجب ہے، سوائے اس کے جو وسعت نہیں رکھتا۔ پھر سوال کرنے والے نے ان سے کہا: "تم اپنے اہلِ خانہ کے بارے میں کیا رائے رکھتے ہو؟" انہوں نے فرمایا: "اگر تم چاہو تو کر سکتے ہو، اور اگر چاہو تو نہیں کر سکتے۔ لیکن تمہارے لیے، اسے ترک نہ کرو۔"
Translation
Hadith.3044 - It is narrated from Al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Fuḍayl, from Abu ʿAbdillah (as), that a man asked him about the sacrifice (udhiyya). Imam (as) replied: "It is obligatory upon every Muslim except for one who cannot afford it." The questioner then asked: "What do you say regarding the dependents?" Imam (as) said: "If you wish, you may perform it for them, and if you wish, you may not. However, as for you, do not neglect it."
