Life
Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj (c. 815–875) of Nishapur traveled widely gathering hadith and applied rigorous standards of authenticity to compile his Sahih, organized topically and prized for the precision of its chains of transmission. Together with the work of his contemporary al-Bukhari, whom he admired, it forms the "two Sahihs" at the summit of Sunni hadith literature, studied and cited across the Muslim world ever since.
