Beyond all reasonable doubt, this was the same gate as the Gate of St. John mentioned in the _Chrysoboullon of John Palæologus_, p. 203, cited above on p. 197. The latter, also, was a gate near the water, with a considerable territory outside the entrance, occupied by numerous buildings.
