The Solitary Report: Can a Single Narrator Establish Creed?
One man rode to Yemen carrying the creed of an entire region. Centuries later, the schools split over a single question: can a hadith transmitted by one trustworthy chain establish an article of faith? The Hanafi and Mu'tazili usul books say probability cannot found belief; the ahl al-hadith answer that the Companions never made that distinction.

The Messenger Who Rode Alone
In the tenth year after the Hijra, the Prophet of Islam sent Muadh ibn Jabal to Yemen. Not an army. Not a delegation. One man. According to Sahih al-Bukhari (hadith 1395), his instructions began not with taxes or treaties but with creed itself:
«إِنَّكَ تَأْتِي قَوْمًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ، فَادْعُهُمْ إِلَى شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ»
