It has been assumed that it was a cult of a chthonic Aphrodite or Artemis. Sanctuaries of Pasikrata have been found in Demetrias (Thessaly), Ambrakia (Epirus) and in Heracleia (Macedonia).

After her husband Minos failed to sacrifice the Cretan Bull to Poseidon as promised, the god cursed Pasiphaë to fall in love with the bull. She had Daedalus build a hollow wooden cow for her to hide in, which she then used to mate with the bull; afterwards, she gave birth to the Minotaur.

In Greek mythology, Phyllis (Φύλλις) was the god of the homonymous river in Bithynia. By a local meadow nymph, he became father of a son Dipsacus, who led a pastoral lifestyle by his father's river and was remembered for having been hospitable to Phrixus on the latter's way to Colchis.
In Greek mythology, Pistis was the personification of good faith, trust and reliability. In Christianity and in the New Testament, pistis is typically translated as "faith". The word is mentioned together with such other personifications as Elpis (Hope), sophrosyne (Prudence), and the Charites, who were all associated with honesty and harmony among people.
