Al-Kafi 1

جب اللہ نے عقل کو پیدا کیا تو اسے بولنے پر مجبور کیا۔ پھر اسے فرمایا: 'آگے آ!' تو وہ آگے آیا۔ پھر اسے فرمایا: 'پیچھے ہٹ!' تو وہ پیچھے ہٹ گیا۔ پھر فرمایا: 'میری عزت اور میرے جلال کی قسم! میں نے تجھ سے زیادہ محبوب کوئی مخلوق پیدا نہیں کی، اور میں نے تجھے کامل نہیں کیا مگر ان میں جنہیں میں محبت کرتا ہوں۔ سنو! میں تجھے ہی حکم دیتا ہوں، اور تجھے ہی منع کرتا ہوں، اور تجھے ہی سزا دیتا ہوں، اور تجھے ہی ثواب دیتا ہوں۔'

Translation

Abu Ja’far Muhammad Bin Yaqoub informed us saying, ‘It was narrated to us by a number of our companions, from them was Muhammad Bin Yahya Al Attar, from Ahmad bin Muhammad, from Al Hassan Bin Mahboub, from Al A’ala Bin Razeyn, from Muhammad Bin Muslim, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far^asws having said: ‘When Allah^azwj Created the ‘الْعَقْلَ’ (<span class="iTxt">Aql</span> - intellect)<a id="_ftnref1"></a>^[1], He^azwj Interrogated it, then Said to it: “Come!” So it came. Then Said to it: “Turn back!” So it turned back. Then He^azwj Said: “By My^azwj Might and My^azwj Majesy! I^azwj did not Create any creature which is more Beloved to Me^azwj than you, nor will I^azwj Perfect you except among the ones whom I^azwj Love. But, it is (based on) you that I^azwj shall Command, and for you I^azwj shall Forbid, and for you I^azwj shall Punish, and for you I^azwj shall Reward”’.
