بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) عَلِيّاً ( عليه السلام ) إِلَى الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ لَهُ حِينَ قَدِمَ حَدِّثْنِي بِأَعْجَبِ مَا وَرَدَ عَلَيْكَ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَتَانِي قَوْمٌ قَدْ تَبَايَعُوا جَارِيَةً فَوَطِئُوهَا جَمِيعاً فِي طُهْرٍ وَاحِدٍ فَوَلَدَتْ غُلَاماً وَ احْتَجُّوا فِيهِ كُلُّهُمْ يَدَّعِيهِ فَأَسْهَمْتُ بَيْنَهُمْ وَ جَعَلْتُهُ لِلَّذِي خَرَجَ سَهْمُهُ وَ ضَمَّنْتُهُ نَصِيبَهُمْ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ قَوْمٍ تَنَازَعُوا ثُمَّ فَوَّضُوا أَمْرَهُمْ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَّا خَرَجَ سَهْمُ الْمُحِقِّ .
Translation
Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abu Najran, from Aasim, Bin Humeyd, from Abu Baseer, (It has been narrated) from Abu Ja’far<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Rasool-Allah<sup>saww</sup> sent Ali<sup>asws</sup> to Al-Yemen, so he<sup>saww</sup> said to him<sup>asws</sup> when he<sup>asws</sup> came back: ‘Narrate to me<sup>saww</sup> with the wonder of what you<sup>asws</sup> encountered’. He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘O Raool-Allah<sup>saww</sup>! A group of people came over to me who had been sold a slave girl, so all of them had slept with her in one pure period. So she gave birth to a boy, and they disputed with regards to him, all of them claiming him. So I<sup>asws</sup> drew a lot between them, and made him to be for the one whose lot came, and I<sup>asws</sup> safeguarded their share’. So the Prophet<sup>saww</sup> said: ‘There are none from a group of people who dispute, then delegate their affair to Allah<sup>azwj</sup> Mighty and Majestic, except that the rightful lot came out’.
