لَهُ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) إِذَا جَامَعْتَ فَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ إِنْ رَزَقْتَنِي ذَكَراً سَمَّيْتُهُ مُحَمَّداً قَالَ فَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ فَرُزِقَ .

اور اس سے، ہمارے بعض اصحاب سے، ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے: ایک آدمی نے آپ سے شکایت کی کہ اس کے یہاں کوئی اولاد نہیں ہوتی۔ تو ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام نے اس سے فرمایا: جب جماع کرو تو یہ کہو: اے اللہ! اگر آپ مجھے ایک بیٹا عطا فرمائیں تو میں اس کا نام محمد رکھوں گا۔' راوی نے کہا: اس نے ایسا کیا تو اسے (اولاد) عطا ہوئی۔
Translation
And from him, from one of our companions, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> that a man complained to him<sup>asws</sup> that there were no children being born for him. So Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘When you copulate, so say, ‘O Allah<sup>azwj</sup>! If You<sup>azwj</sup> were to Grant me a male, I shall name him Muhammad’. So he did that, and he was Granted (a son)’.
