قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) مَا مَنْزِلَةُ الْأَئِمَّةِ قَالَ كَمَنْزِلَةِ ذِي الْقَرْنَيْنِ وَ كَمَنْزِلَةِ يُوشَعَ وَ كَمَنْزِلَةِ آصَفَ صَاحِبِ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ فَبِمَا تَحْكُمُونَ قَالَ بِحُكْمِ اللَّهِ وَ حُكْمِ آلِ دَاوُدَ وَ حُكْمِ مُحَمَّدٍ ( صلى الله عليه وآله ) وَ يَتَلَقَّانَا بِهِ رُوحُ الْقُدُسِ .

احمد بن مہران، اللہ ان پر رحم فرمائے، محمد بن علی سے، ابن محبوب سے، ہشام بن سالم سے، عمار الساباطی سے، انہوں نے کہا: میں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے کہا: ائمہ کا مرتبہ کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے علیہ السلام فرمایا: ذوالقرنین کے مرتبے کی مانند، اور یوشع کے مرتبے کی مانند، اور آصف کے مرتبے کی مانند، جو سلیمان کے ساتھی تھے۔ انہوں نے کہا: پھر تم کس کے مطابق فیصلہ کرتے ہو؟ انہوں نے علیہ السلام فرمایا: اللہ کے حکم کے مطابق، اور آلِ داؤد کے حکم کے مطابق، اور محمد صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم کے حکم کے مطابق، اور روح القدس اسے ہمارے پاس پہنچاتی ہے۔
Translation
Ahmad Bin Mihran, from Muhammad Bin Ali, from Ibn Mahboub, from Hisham Bin Salim, from Ammar Al Sabaty who said, ‘I said to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, ‘What is the status of the Imams<sup>asws</sup>?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Like the status of Zulqarnayn<sup>as</sup>, and like the status of Yoshua<sup>as</sup>, and like the status of Asif<sup>as</sup>, companion of Suleymen<sup>as</sup>’. He (the narrator) said, ‘So with what are you<sup>asws</sup> all (Imams<sup>asws</sup>) judging?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘By the Judgment of Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, and judgment of the Progeny of Dawood<sup>as</sup>, and judgment of Muhammad<sup>saww</sup>, and we<sup>asws</sup> receive it by the Holy Spirit’.
