ہمارے بعض اصحاب نے احمد بن محمد البرقی سے، وہ اپنے والد سے، وہ محمد بن یحییٰ الخزاز سے، وہ حماد بن عثمان سے روایت کی، انہوں نے کہا: میں ابو عبداللہ (عليه السلام) کے ساتھ حاضر تھا، اور ایک شخص نے ان سے کہا: “اللہ آپ کو سلامت رکھے۔ آپ نے ذکر کیا تھا کہ علی بن ابی طالب (عليه السلام) کھردرا لباس پہنتے تھے، اور چار درہم کی قمیص اور اس جیسا لباس پہنتے تھے، جبکہ ہم آپ پر نیا لباس دیکھتے ہیں۔” تو انہوں نے اس سے فرمایا: “بے شک علی بن ابی طالب (عليه السلام) یہ اس زمانے میں پہنتے تھے جب اس پر اعتراض نہ کیا جاتا تھا۔ اگر وہ آج اس جیسا لباس پہنتے تو اس کی وجہ سے مشہور ہو جاتے۔ پس ہر زمانے کا بہترین لباس اس کے لوگوں کا لباس ہے، مگر ہمارے اہلِ بیت کے قائم (عليه السلام) جب قیام کریں گے تو علی (عليه السلام) کے کپڑے پہنیں گے اور علی (عليه السلام) کی سیرت پر چلیں گے۔”

Translation

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Al Barqy, from his father, from Muhammad Bin Yahya Al Khazzaz, from Hammad Bin Usman who said, ‘I was present with Abu Abdullah^asws and a man said to him^asws, ‘May Allah^azwj Keep you^asws well! I remember that Ali^asws Bin Abu Talib^asws used to wear the coarse (clothing). He^asws was wearing the shirt of four Dirhams and what resembled that, and we see upon you^asws the new clothing’. So he^asws said to him: ‘Ali^asws Bin Abu Talib^asws was wearing that during the time period that it would not be denied upon him^asws, and if he^asws were to wear the likes of that today, he^asws would be defamed by it. So the best clothing of every time period is the clothing worn by people (during that time), apart from that, our^asws Qaim^asws of the People^asws of the Household, when he^asws rises, would wear the clothing of Ali^asws, and he^asws would live by the way of Ali^asws’.
