سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تَمُوتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُدْخَلَ بِهَا أَوْ يَمُوتُ الزَّوْجُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ بِهَا فَقَالَ أَيُّهُمَا مَاتَ فَلِلْمَرْأَةِ نِصْفُ مَا فَرَضَ لَهَا وَ إِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ فَرَضَ لَهَا فَلَا مَهْرَ لَهَا .
Translation
Ali, from his father, and a number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Ibn Mahboub, from Ali Bin Raib, from Zurara who said, ‘I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the wife who died before she had been slept with, or the husband died before he had slept with her. So he<sup>asws</sup> said; ‘Whichever of the two dies, so for the woman is half of what was obligated for her, and if it was not obligated for her, so there is no dower for her’.
