Al-Kafi 11

رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ نے فرمایا: اللہ نے بندوں کو عقل سے بہتر کوئی چیز تقسیم نہیں کی۔ پس عاقل کی نیند جاہل کی شب بیداری سے افضل ہے، اور عاقل کا گھر میں رہنا جاہل کے سفر سے افضل ہے؛ اور اللہ نے کوئی نبی یا رسول اس وقت تک نہیں بھیجا جب تک اس کی عقل کامل نہ ہو گئی اور اس کی عقل اپنی امت کی تمام عقلوں سے افضل ہو۔ اور نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ کا اپنے نفس میں جو کچھ پوشیدہ ہے وہ مجتہدوں کے اجتہاد سے افضل ہے؛ اور بندہ اللہ کے فرائض ادا نہیں کر سکتا جب تک اسے عقل سے نہ سمجھ لے؛ اور تمام عابدوں کی عبادت کی فضیلت میں وہ مقام نہیں جو عاقل کو حاصل ہے۔ اور عقلاء وہ لوگ ہیں جو اولو الالباب ہیں جن کے بارے میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے فرمایا: 'اور نصیحت صرف اولو الالباب ہی قبول کرتے ہیں۔'

Translation

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from oe of his companions, raising it, said, ‘Rasool-Allah^saww said: ‘Allah^azwj has not Distributed for the servants anything more superior than the intellect. Thus, the sleep of the intellectual is superior to the vigil of the ignorant, and the staying (at home) of the intellectual is superior than going out of the ignorant; and Allah^azwj neither Sent a Prophet^as nor a Rasool^as until He^azwj Perfected the intellect (for him^as), and his^as intellect happened to be superior to the entirety of the intellects of the community. And whatever the Prophet^saww concealed within himself^saww is superior to the striving of the strivers; and the servant would not fulfil the Obligations of Allah^azwj until he knows about Him^azwj, and the entirety of the worshippers would not reach in merit with their worshipping what the intellectual would reach; and the intellectuals, they are those possessing understanding whom Allah^azwj Speaks of <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:13#h19"><a href="/books/quran:13#h19">[13:19]</a></a> But rather, only those possessing understanding will mind</span>’.
