سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَتَّخِذُ أَبَاهُ أَوْ أُمَّهُ أَوْ أَخَاهُ أَوْ أُخْتَهُ عَبِيداً فَقَالَ أَمَّا الْأُخْتُ فَقَدْ عَتَقَتْ حِينَ يَمْلِكُهَا وَ أَمَّا الْأَخُ فَيَسْتَرِقُّهُ وَ أَمَّا الْأَبَوَانِ فَقَدْ عَتَقَا حِينَ يَمْلِكُهُمَا قَالَ وَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ تُرْضِعُ عَبْدَهَا أَ تَتَّخِذُهُ عَبْداً قَالَ تُعْتِقُهُ وَ هِيَ كَارِهَةٌ .

میں نے ابو عبداللہ علیہ السلام سے اس مرد کے بارے میں پوچھا جو اپنے باپ یا ماں یا بھائی یا بہن کو غلام بنائے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: جہاں تک بہن کا تعلق ہے، وہ اس لمحے آزاد ہو گئی جب اس نے اسے اپنی ملکیت میں لیا۔ جہاں تک بھائی کا تعلق ہے، وہ اسے غلام بنا سکتا ہے۔ جہاں تک دونوں والدین کا تعلق ہے، وہ دونوں اس لمحے آزاد ہو گئے جب اس نے انہیں اپنی ملکیت میں لیا۔ راوی نے کہا: اور میں نے آپ سے اس عورت کے بارے میں پوچھا جو اپنے غلام کو دودھ پلاتی ہے — کیا وہ اسے غلام بنا سکتی ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا: وہ اسے آزاد کرے گی، اگرچہ یہ اسے ناپسند ہے۔
Translation
Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moala Bin Muhammad, from Al Washa, from Aban Bin Usman, from Abdul Rahman Bin Abu Abdullah who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about the man who takes his father, or his mother, or his brother, or his sister as slaves. So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘As for the sister, so she was emancipated (liberated) the moment he owned her, and as for the brother, so he would enslave him, and as for the two parents, so they have both been emancipated the moment he owned them both’. He (the narrator) said, ‘And I asked him<sup>asws</sup> about the woman who breast-fed her slave, can she take him as a slave?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘She would emancipate him, and it is an abhorrence (breast-feeding her slave)’.
