میں نے ابو عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے ایک ایسے شخص کے بارے میں پوچھا جو اپنے سکھائے ہوئے کتے کو چھوڑتا ہے اور چھوڑتے وقت بسم اللہ پڑھتا ہے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: 'وہ اس شکار سے کھا سکتا ہے جسے کتے نے اس کے لیے پکڑا ہو، اور اگر وہ اسے مارنے سے پہلے پا لے تو اسے ذبح کرے، اور اگر اس کے ساتھ کوئی غیر تعلیم یافتہ کتا ہو تو اس سے نہ کھائے۔' پس میں نے کہا: 'اور چیتا؟' آپ نے فرمایا: 'جب تم اس کی ذکاۃ کو پا لو تو کھاؤ، ورنہ نہیں۔' میں نے کہا: 'کیا چیتا کتے کے درجے میں نہیں ہے؟' آپ نے فرمایا: 'کوئی چیز مکلَّب نہیں ہے سوائے کتے کے۔'

Translation

A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Saalim, and Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, and Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, altogether from Ibn Mahboub, from Ali Bin Raib,f rom Abu Ubeyda Al haza’a who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah^asws about the man who released (for hunting) his trained dog and he Named (<span class="iTxt">Bismillah</span>) when he released it. So he^asws said: ‘He can eat from what it (dog) remains upon it. So when he comes over to it before it has killed it, he should slaughters it, and if he were to find an untrained dog with it, so he cannot eat from it’. So I said, ‘So (what about) the leopard?’ He^asws said: ‘When he comes over to it, he slaughters it, so he eats, or else, no’. I said, ‘Is not the leopard as the status of the dog?’ So he^asws said to me: ‘There is no trained hunting animal except for the dog’.
