قُلْتُ لِأَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْأَوَّلِ ( عليه السلام ) إِنَّ أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ لَا يَذْبَحُونَ الْبَقَرَ وَ إِنَّمَا يَنْحَرُونَ فِي اللَّبَّةِ فَمَا تَرَى فِي أَكْلِ لَحْمِهَا قَالَ فَقَالَ ( عليه السلام ) فَذَبَحُوها وَ ما كادُوا يَفْعَلُونَ لَا تَأْكُلْ إِلَّا مَا ذُبِحَ .

میں نے ابو الحسن اول علیہ السلام سے کہا: مکہ کے لوگ گائے کو ذبح نہیں کرتے، بلکہ وہ لبہ (سینے کے اوپری حصے) میں نحر کرتے ہیں۔ تو آپ کی ان کے گوشت کھانے کے بارے میں کیا رائے ہے؟ پس آپ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا: 'پس انہوں نے اسے ذبح کیا اور قریب تھا کہ وہ ایسا نہ کرتے۔ مت کھاؤ سوائے اس کے جو ذبح کیا گیا ہو۔'
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, and Ali Bin Ibrahim, from his father, and Ali Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ibn Abu Nasr, from Yunus Bin Yaqoub who said, ‘I said to Abu Al-Hassan<sup>asws</sup> the 1<sup>st</sup>, ‘The people of Makkah are slaughtering the cow, and rather they are slaughtering in the upper part of the chest. So what is your<sup>asws</sup> view regarding eating its flesh?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘They slaughtered it, and almost did not do it. Do not eat except what is slaughtered (at the throat)’.
