الْوُضُوءُ قَبْلَ الطَّعَامِ يَبْدَأُ صَاحِبُ الْبَيْتِ لِئَلَّا يَحْتَشِمَ أَحَدٌ فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنَ الطَّعَامِ بَدَأَ بِمَنْ عَنْ يَمِينِ صَاحِبِ الْبَيْتِ حُرّاً كَانَ أَوْ عَبْداً قَالَ وَ فِي حَدِيثٍ آخَرَ يَغْسِلُ أَوَّلًا رَبُّ الْبَيْتِ يَدَهُ ثُمَّ يَبْدَأُ بِمَنْ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ وَ إِذَا رُفِعَ الطَّعَامُ بَدَأَ بِمَنْ عَلَى يَسَارِ صَاحِبِ الْمَنْزِلِ وَ يَكُونُ آخِرُ مَنْ يَغْسِلُ يَدَهُ صَاحِبَ الْمَنْزِلِ لِأَنَّهُ أَوْلَى بِالصَّبْرِ عَلَى الْغَمَرِ .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad Bin Khalid, from Usman Bin Isa, from Muhammad Bin Ajlan, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘The ablution before the meal, the owner of the house begins, perhaps someone is embarrassed. So when (everyone) is free from the meal, he begins with the one on his right of the owner of the house, be he a freeman or a slave’. He (the narrator) said, ‘And in another Hadeeth: ‘First the lord of the house would wash his hands, then he would begin with the upon his right. And when the meal is raised, he would begin with the one upon his left of the owner of the house, and it would happen that the last one to wash his hands would be the owner of the house, because he was the first with the patience upon the stains’.
