وہ دو والدین جن کے لیے اللہ نے شکر واجب کیا ہے، وہی ہیں جنہوں نے علم کو جنم دیا اور حکم کی وراثت پائی، اور لوگوں کو ان کی اطاعت کا حکم دیا گیا۔ پھر اللہ نے فرمایا: "میری ہی طرف لوٹنا ہے"؛ پس بندوں کا لوٹنا اللہ ہی کی طرف ہے، اور اس کی دلیل وہ دو والدین ہیں۔ پھر اس نے ابنِ حنتمہ اور اس کے ساتھی کی طرف کلام کا رخ کیا، اور خاص و عام کے بارے میں فرمایا: "اور اگر وہ تم سے اس بات پر جھگڑیں کہ تم میرے ساتھ شریک ٹھہراؤ..." اس سے مراد وصیت کے بارے میں ہے اور اس سے پھر جانا ہے جس کی اطاعت تمہیں قائم رکھنے کا حکم دیا گیا تھا؛ پس ان دونوں کی اطاعت نہ کرو، اور ان کی بات نہ سنو۔ پھر اس نے کلام کو دونوں والدین کی طرف موڑا اور فرمایا: "اور دنیا میں ان دونوں کے ساتھ بھلائی کے ساتھ رہو۔" وہ کہتے ہیں: لوگوں کو ان کی فضیلت سے آگاہ کرو اور ان کے راستے کی طرف بلاؤ، اور یہی اس کا قول ہے: "اور اس کی راہ کی پیروی کرو جو میری طرف رجوع کرتا ہے؛ پھر میری ہی طرف تمہاری واپسی ہے۔" پس اس نے کہا: اللہ کی طرف، پھر ہماری طرف۔ لہٰذا اللہ سے ڈرو اور دونوں والدین کی نافرمانی نہ کرو، کیونکہ ان کی رضا اللہ کی رضا ہے، اور ان کا غضب اللہ کا غضب ہے۔

Translation

Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Bastam Bin Murra, from Is’haq Bin Hassan, from Al Haysam Bin Waqid, from Ali Bin Al Husayn Al Abady, from Sa’d Al Askaf, (It has been narrated) from Al-Asbagh Bin Nubata who asked Amir Al-Momineen^asws about the Words of the Exalted <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:31#h14"><a href="/books/quran:31#h14">[31:14]</a></a> Be grateful to Me and to both your parents; to Me is the eventual journey</span>. So he^asws said: ‘The two parent from whom Allah^azwj Obligated the gratefulness, they are those who produced the knowledge and gave the wisdom as an inheritance, and the people are Commanded with obeying them. Then Allah^azwj Said <span class="ibTxt">to Me is the eventual journey</span>. So the journey of the servants is to Allah^azwj, and the pointers upon that are the two parents. Then He^azwj Turned the Words upon Ibn Hantama and his companions, so He^azwj Said regarding the specials ones and the general ones <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:31#h15"><a href="/books/quran:31#h15">[31:15]</a></a> And if they contend with you that you should associate with Me </span>regarding the successorship and equate with the ones whom you have been Commanded with his^asws obedience, <span class="ibTxt">do not obey the two of them</span> and do not listen to their words’. Then He^azwj Turned the Words upon the two parents, so He^azwj Said <span class="ibTxt">and keep company with the two of them in the world kindly</span>. He^azwj is Saying to introduce the people to their^asws merits and call to their^asws ways, and that is in His^azwj Words <span class="ibTxt">and follow the way of him who turns to Me, then to Me is your return</span>. So he^asws said: ‘To Allah^azwj, then to us^asws, therefore fear Allah^azwj do not disobey the two (spiritual) parents (Muhammad^saww and Ali^asws), for their^asws pleasure is the Pleasure of Allah^azwj, and their^asws anger is the Anger of Allah^azwj’.
