میں نے ابا عبد اللہ علیہ السلام سے اللہ کے اس قول کے بارے میں پوچھا، “ایک پاکیزہ درخت کی مانند، جس کی جڑ مضبوط ہے اور جس کی شاخ آسمان میں ہے۔” انہوں نے فرمایا: “رسول اللہ صلى الله عليه وآله اس کی جڑ ہیں، اور امیر المؤمنین عليه السلام اس کی شاخ ہیں۔ ان کی ذریت سے ائمہ اس کی شاخیں ہیں، ائمہ کا علم اس کا پھل ہے، اور ان کے شیعہ، مؤمنین، اس کے پتے ہیں۔” “کیا اس میں کوئی اضافہ ہے؟” انہوں نے فرمایا: میں نے کہا، “نہیں، اللہ کی قسم۔” انہوں نے فرمایا: “اللہ کی قسم، جب ایک مؤمن پیدا ہوتا ہے تو اس پر ایک پتا نکل آتا ہے، اور جب ایک مؤمن وفات پاتا ہے تو اس سے ایک پتا جھڑ جاتا ہے۔”

Translation

A number of our companions, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Ali Bin Sayf, from his father, from Amro Bin Hureys who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah^asws about the Words of Allah^azwj <span class="ibTxt"><a href="/#/books/quran:14#h24"><a href="/books/quran:14#h24">[14:24]</a></a> like a good tree, whose root is firm and whose branches are in the sky</span>. So he^asws said: ‘Rasool-Allah^saww is its root and Amir Al-Momineen^asws its branch are the Imams^asws from their^asws (Rasool-Allah^saww and Amir Al-Momineen^asws) descendants, and the knowledge of the Imams^asws stands for the fruits, and their^asws Shias, the Momineen are its leaves. Is there any excess in this?’ I said, ‘No, by Allah^azwj’. He^asws said: ‘The <span class="iTxt">Momin </span>is born, so a leaf sprouts in it, and if the <span class="iTxt">Momin </span>dies, so a leaf falls from it’.
