سَوِيقُ الْعَدَسِ يَقْطَعُ الْعَطَشَ وَ يُقَوِّي الْمَعِدَةَ وَ فِيهِ شِفَاءٌ مِنْ سَبْعِينَ دَاءً وَ يُطْفِئُ الصَّفْرَاءَ وَ يُبَرِّدُ الْجَوْفَ وَ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ ( عليه السلام ) لَا يُفَارِقُهُ وَ كَانَ يَقُولُ ( عليه السلام ) إِذَا هَاجَ الدَّمُ بِأَحَدٍ مِنْ حَشَمِهِ قَالَ لَهُ اشْرَبْ مِنْ سَوِيقِ الْعَدَسِ فَإِنَّهُ يُسَكِّنُ هَيَجَانَ الدَّمِ وَ يُطْفِئُ الْحَرَارَةَ .
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Muhammad Bin Musa, raising it, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘Suweyq of the lentils cuts the thirst, and strengthens the stomach, and in it is a healing from seventy illnesses, and it extinguishes the yellowness and is a coolness for the interior; and it was that whenever he<sup>asws</sup> travelled, did not separate from it, and he<sup>asws</sup> was saying: ‘Whenever someone’s blood of modesty got agitated, he<sup>asws</sup> said to him: ‘Drink the Suweyq of lentils, for it would settle the agitation of the blood and extinguish the heat’.
