بَعَثَ إِلَيْنَا الرِّضَا ( عليه السلام ) وَ هُوَ عِنْدَنَا يَطْلُبُ السَّوِيقَ فَبَعَثْنَا إِلَيْهِ بِسَوِيقٍ مَلْتُوتٍ فَرَدَّهُ وَ بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّ السَّوِيقَ إِذَا شُرِبَ عَلَى الرِّيقِ وَ هُوَ جَافٌّ أَطْفَأَ الْحَرَارَةَ وَ سَكَّنَ الْمِرَّةَ وَ إِذَا لُتَّ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ .
Translation
A number of our companions, from Sahl Bin Ziyad, from Al Sayyari, from Ibrahim Bin Bustan, form a man from the people of Marv who said, ‘Al-Reza<sup>asws</sup> sent a messenger and he<sup>asws</sup> was seeking Al-Suweyq which was with us. So we sent it over to him<sup>asws</sup> a mixture of Suweyq. So he<sup>asws</sup> returned it and sent a message to us that Al-Suweyq, when it is drunk upon the empty stomach, and it is dry, it extinguished the heat and settles the bile; and when it is mixed, it does not do that’.
