بَعَثَنِي الْمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ عُمَرَ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) بِلَطَفٍ فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ فِي يَوْمٍ صَائِفٍ وَ قُدَّامَهُ طَبَقٌ فِيهِ تُفَّاحٌ أَخْضَرُ فَوَ اللَّهِ إِنْ صَبَرْتُ أَنْ قُلْتُ لَهُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ أَ تَأْكُلُ مِنْ هَذَا وَ النَّاسُ يَكْرَهُونَهُ فَقَالَ لِي كَأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَزَلْ يَعْرِفُنِي وُعِكْتُ فِي لَيْلَتِي هَذِهِ فَبَعَثْتُ فَأُتِيتُ بِهِ فَأَكَلْتُهُ وَ هُوَ يَقْلَعُ الْحُمَّى وَ يُسَكِّنُ الْحَرَارَةَ فَقَدِمْتُ فَأَصَبْتُ أَهْلِي مَحْمُومِينَ فَأَطْعَمْتُهُمْ فَأَقْلَعَتِ الْحُمَّى عَنْهُمْ .
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad Bin Bundar, from his father, from Muhammad Bin Ali Al Hamdany, from Abdullah Bin Sinna, from Dorost Bin Abu Mansour who said, ‘Al-Mufazzal Bin Umar sent me to Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> as a courtesy. So I went over to him<sup>asws</sup> on a scorching hot day, and facing him<sup>asws</sup> was a tray in which there were green apples, so by Allah<sup>azwj</sup> I could not be patient and I said to him<sup>asws</sup>, ‘May I be sacrificed for you<sup>asws</sup>! You<sup>asws</sup> are eating from this and the people are abhorring it?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said to me as if he<sup>asws</sup> had not ceased to recognise me: ‘I<sup>asws</sup> woke up in this night of mine<sup>asws</sup>, so I<sup>asws</sup> sent for it and they came with it, So I<sup>asws</sup> ate it and it takes off the fever and settles the temperature’. So I proceeded (home) and I found my family with fever, so I fed them (apples), and the fever was lifted from them’.
