سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) وَ كُنْتُ مَعَهُ عَلَى الْمَائِدَةِ فَنَاوَلَنِي فُجْلَةً وَ قَالَ يَا حَنَانُ كُلِ الْفُجْلَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ ثَلَاثَ خِصَالٍ وَرَقُهُ يَطْرُدُ الرِّيَاحَ وَ لُبُّهُ يُسَرْبِلُ الْبَوْلَ وَ أَصْلُهُ يَقْطَعُ الْبَلْغَمَ . وَ فِي رِوَايَةٍ أُخْرَى وَرَقُهُ يُمْرِئُ .
Translation
Ali Bin Muhammad Bin Bundar, from his father, from Muhammad Bin Ali Al Hamdany, from Hanaan who said, ‘I heard Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup>, and I was with him<sup>asws</sup> upon the food-spread, so he<sup>asws</sup> gave me a radish and said: ‘O Hanaan! Eat the radish for therein are three qualities – its leaf dispels the wind, and its core eases the flow of urine, and its root cuts the phlegm’. And in another report: ‘And its leaf nourishes’.
