قَالَ لِبَعْضِ مَوَالِيهِ أَقْلِلْ لَنَا مِنَ الْبَصَلِ وَ أَكْثِرْ لَنَا مِنَ الْبَاذَنْجَانِ فَقَالَ لَهُ مُسْتَفْهِماً الْبَاذَنْجَانِ قَالَ نَعَمْ الْبَاذَنْجَانُ جَامِعُ الطَّعْمِ مَنْفِيُّ الدَّاءِ صَالِحٌ لِلطَّبِيعَةِ مُنْصِفٌ فِي أَحْوَالِهِ صَالِحٌ لِلشَّيْخِ وَ الشَّابِّ مُعْتَدِلٌ فِي حَرَارَتِهِ وَ بُرُودَتِهِ حَارٌّ فِي مَكَانِ الْحَرَارَةِ وَ بَارِدٌ فِي مَكَانِ الْبُرُودَةِ .
Translation
Al Husayn Bin Muhammad, from Moalla Bin Muhammad, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, and Abdullah Bin Al Qasim, from Abdul Rahman Al Hashimy who said, ‘He<sup>asws</sup> said to one of his slaves: ‘Be (buy) less for us<sup>asws</sup> from the onions, and more for us<sup>asws</sup> from the aubergines’. So he said to him<sup>asws</sup> for his understanding, ‘The aubergines?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes, the aubergines, in all its tastes is beneficial for the illnesses, corrective for the health, balanced in its states, corrective for the old man and the youth, being moderate in its heat and its coolness, being hot in hot places and cool in cold places’.
