John Shaqi

الشُّرْبُ مِفْتَاحُ كُلِّ شَرٍّ وَ مُدْمِنُ الْخَمْرِ كَعَابِدِ وَثَنٍ وَ إِنَّ الْخَمْرَ رَأْسُ كُلِّ إِثْمٍ وَ شَارِبَهَا مُكَذِّبٌ بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى لَوْ صَدَّقَ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ حَرَّمَ حَرَامَهُ .


Translation

From him, from Muhammad Bin Ali, from Abu Jameela, from Abu Asama, (It has been narrated) from Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> having said: ‘The drinking (of wine) is the key of every evil, and the habitual drinker of the wine is like a worshipper of an idol; and the wine is the starting point of every sin, and its drinker is a denier of the Book of Allah<sup>azwj</sup> the High, and had he ratified the Book of Allah<sup>azwj</sup>, he would have prohibited (unto himself) its Prohibitions’.
