سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ( عليه السلام ) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَعْرِفَةِ بِالْحَقِّ يَأْتِينِي بِالْبُخْتُجِ وَ يَقُولُ قَدْ طُبِخَ عَلَى الثُّلُثِ وَ أَنَا أَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ يَشْرَبُهُ عَلَى النِّصْفِ أَ فَأَشْرَبُهُ بِقَوْلِهِ وَ هُوَ يَشْرَبُهُ عَلَى النِّصْفِ فَقَالَ لَا تَشْرَبْهُ فَقُلْتُ فَرَجُلٌ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَهْلِ الْمَعْرِفَةِ مِمَّنْ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ يَشْرَبُهُ عَلَى الثُّلُثِ وَ لَا يَسْتَحِلُّهُ عَلَى النِّصْفِ يُخْبِرُنَا أَنَّ عِنْدَهُ بُخْتُجاً عَلَى الثُّلُثِ قَدْ ذَهَبَ ثُلُثَاهُ وَ بَقِيَ ثُلُثُهُ نَشْرَبُ مِنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ.
Translation
Muhammad Bin Yahya, from Ahmad Bin Muhammad, from Muhammad Bin Ismail, from Yunus Bin Yaqoub, from Muawiya Bin Ammar who said, ‘I asked Abu Abdullah<sup>asws</sup> about the man from the people of understanding with the truth who came to me with <span class="iTxt">Al-Bukhtuj</span> (boiled grape juice), and he was saying that he had cooked it upon the third, and I know that he tends to drink upon the half, so shall I drink by his word and he is drinking upon the half?’ So he<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Do not drink it’. So I said, ‘Suppose it is a man from other than the people of the understanding, from the ones we do not recognise drinking upon the third nor their permitting it upon the half, informing us that with him is <span class="iTxt">Bukhtuj</span> (made) upon the third, the two-thirds of it having evaporated and there remains a third of it. Shall we drink from it?’ He<sup>asws</sup> said: ‘Yes’.
